Rode that trail too many times over the years, but the past year it's been a toss up whether it's going to be cut or not. Don't know who does upkeep on the trail, but auburn mountain bike trails can vary.
But, I think the trails at Chewacla are the most popular. Haven't ridden out there in a couple years, but it's fun.

Then, if you want to drive a little, you can go to Wetumpka near Montgomery. There's a YMCA trail with different difficulty levels to choose from.
There's a bunch of switchback sections and it all borders the lake there. Really awesome trail.
It's about an hour and a half from here. Think it's called the Swayback Bridge trail iirc.
