Hilltop reservation. Mahlon Dickerson. I would not recommend going up the blue trall and coming down the red trail. Nice trail with an added view of abandoned castle like building and small waterfalls.

I'm local to this park. Always loved this loop.
It's a large loop, perfect to get your steps in. Beautiful park that makes me forget I live in the suburbs and work in the city.
It also has a dog park, an archery range, a track and more. Parking is never an issue either.
There are a couple of parking lots and street parking around the loop. Always a great hike for all the family, you can shorten or make longer using the other trails in the park.
Such a great hike, one of my favourites nersey NJ. Almost flat all the way around the lake, we just followed our instincts as to which trail would keep us closest to black sheep bike lake itself. Once you find the mailbox, you've reached the top. There is another trail leading up in the opposite direction, so I'd recommend turning back the way you came in if the sun is setting. Took the blue trail today.
